Student Sports For All Students
We believe every NZ student deserves fair and equal rights to compete in student sports events — including home-schooled students.
The response to our recent media coverage has been overwhelming. We've received an outpouring of support from the public, with many people asking how they can help ensure real, meaningful change in student sport. Now, we’re turning that momentum into action.
We’ve launched a parliamentary petition on ActionStation asking the Government to act. https://our.actionstation.org.nz/p/sportforall
📜 What We’re Asking For
that the House of Representatives urge the Government to:
Require Sport NZ to make funding for School Sport NZ conditional on allowing home-schooled domestic students to compete in student sports events.
🧭 Why It Matters
- Fairness: All students should have equal access to student sports, regardless of their legal education pathway.
- Inclusion: Sport NZ’s strategy champions diversity and inclusion. Its funding should reflect those values.
- Equity: Home-schooled students are domestic students. Excluding them is discriminatory and unjust.
📰 In the Media
Our members experiences of sports exclusion have already gained national attention:
The public response has been overwhelmingly supportive. Now we need your voice to help turn that support into action.
